Friday December 28, 2007. 09:35 Ready To Cruise! |
|
2 More Weeks!! (Approximately) The flights are paid for, the bunk is booked, and the sun is shining! Jan 14th Troy (my brother) and I get on a Continental jet in Calgary, and after a stop in Houston and an overnight in Ft. Lauderdale, it's off to Nassau. We'll tour the Bahamas for a couple weeks before heading back to Miami for some pre-cruise partying. Troy will wave me off as I set sail on the Carnival Victory for Ships & Dip III (Barenaked Ladies, Great Big Sea) and the next day (28th) he'll head back to Calgary through Houston. I'll enjoy my time on sea and in the Caymans & Jamaica before arriving back in Port Miami on the 1st of Feb. Mandi will fly the same route and times as Troy and I did, only 3 weeks after (Feb 4th) to meet me at the Hollywood Airport. From there we'll head further south to San Jose, Costa Rica (thanks :D ) for 2 more weeks in the sun and sand. Then, sadly, I'll have to come home. Although I know I'll miss my daughter, and I'd like to think my work will miss me, I'm sure I'll be wishing for more time abroad. But, 5 and a half weeks away is pretty good, I suppose. Anyway, that's all for now, I'll keep ya posted! |

Sunday December 23, 2007. 13:51 Someone Horked My Wheel-Barrow! |
|
So, I realize that way too often I find myself leaving my moderately valuable belongings unsecured, a target for theft. And you think I'd be more conscientious of this seeing as how my newly developed neighborhood is a high risk area for thievery. So far I've had a jerry can of petrol stolen, and someone took off with my neighbors somewhat secured garbage cans (odd, I know). SO, I guess I should've been smart enough to lock up, or at least hide my very precious wheel-barrow. But I didn't. And last night as I left the house, I realized she was gone. Someone ran off with her. I wasn't impressed to say the least, so when I got home, I got out my Hardy Boys kit and stared my investigation. I checked out the foot prints and wheel-barrow tread marks in the snow out back, and drove up the heavily used lane trying to find any sign of continued tracks. And I did! They were sporadic because of the well used lane, but I managed to follow them for a ways away from my house. I came to a point at which the foot prints pushing my cart had done a u turn and headed back towards my house. I was a bit frustrated that I seemed to be running out of options, so I drove up and down the lane trying to find some sign of these criminals and their hideous crime. I parked my car behind my garage, and followed the lane the other way on foot, shining my torch this way and that, until the lumens of my light landed on - you guessed it - my beloved wheel-barrow herself. Apparently the culprits only took her out for a joy ride, a spin up and down the lane. Well, I ran over to her and took her gently but firmly by the handles, and I bet my smile lit up the alley as I proudly wheeled her back to my yard, stowing her safely in the shelter of my newly built garage. So now she's safe and sound. I only hope the the thieves didn't do anything unspeakable in her back seat!
Oh, by the way, have a very Merry Christmas!! |

Tuesday November 27, 2007. 22:22 Nichole's 4 Month Celebration! |
|
Today my daughter is 4 months old. So, to celebrate, we drywalled most of the garage ceiling. :) Well, I guess it wasn't really a celebration, but it was kinda like a party. Mandi made supper, and Grandma came over, and Dad was very happy to get through the toughest part. Only 6 more sheets to go! |

Wednesday October 10, 2007. 11:26 Almost A Garage! |
|
How was your thanksgiving? (If you're in Canada, that is). I was thankful this past weekend for all of my uncle's help with my garage. In only a few days, and a few dollars, and a lot of help from family and friends, I have a fully framed building, ready to be shingled and sided. So exciting!! See how happy I am that I get to park out of the elements this winter. :D Mucho happy! That's the current event, stay tuned for photos. |

Tuesday October 2, 2007. 12:17 2 Months Later... |
|
So, it's been a while, but it's been a very busy while! Nichole is now over 2 months old, and things are still as crazy as ever, but I have never been so happy as I am when I'm with her. Check out the photos for now to see what we've been up to, but soon I'll post the daily journal / log that I've been keeping for Nichole. Also, I've changed the way you can be a part of bassdrum.ca. Check out thefeedback form page, and drop us a line! Please keep it appropriate, I don't want to have to delete any. :D But, I'm at work, so I better cut this one short. Get at me!! |

Friday July 27, 2007. 10:20 IT'S BABY TIME!!! |
|
What was suppose to be a quick appointment at the maternity unit has quickly become birth time! After a great night in Edmonton at Great Big Sea (with a 04:00 bedtime this morning), and an early 08:00 appointment at the hospital, I started the day very groggy and ready to go back to bed. I'm a lot more alert now lol. Anyway, I'm only suppose to be home to shower and change, so I better get back to the hospital. More to come... !! |

Monday July 9, 2007. 18:56 It's Been A While, What's New... |
|
A bit has happened since Travis's birthday. Let's see...
Movies I've seen (Ok, the first two I saw before Travis's birthday. I guess I forgot to write about them in my last blog):
Fantastic Four - Silver Surfer: I always enjoy Marvel movie, this one is no exception. Not nearly as good as the first one, and I suppose not even as good as I hoped, but I'll have to buy it, my collection demands that I do. It's worth it. Mandi and I went to Uptown to see this one on cheapo night (July 3rd) but it was a better bargain then we planned! We got to the doors, asked the guy how much we missed, and his answer was, "about 5 minutes. But, tell you what, for 10... Ah, just go in." Can't beat that price. No movie pass to add to the collection, but a pass isn't worth $10, I don't think.
Knocked Up: Soooo Funny! This one a few of us went to see on June 18th (Monday) at Uptown. I had a pretty good laugh. And, of course (if you know me well, you'll know this) hit home in a few ways. Not my personal story, but some parts I can relate too. This one is one to add to the collection, for sure!
Shooter: On Sunday June 17th, after going to Applebees with Amy, Tara & Mandi, the four of us went to Carnival to check out some other movie, but decided on this one instead. I really liked it, but I'm not much into cold blooded revenge, so I had to try really hard to see the good in certain parts of it. I'd recommend seeing it, but I don't think I'll buy it.
If my memory is at least as good as I hope it is, those are the only movies I've gone out to recently.
Other then that, Mandi & I spent the Canada Day long weekend in BC Camping with Travis & Kelly, wing nights have been fun, and I've been playing a lot of "ZELDA 2 -The Adventures Of Link" and "Super Mario Bros." on the Wii. Now it's food time, if I think of more, and Link doesn't distract me, I'll keep ya posted! |

Thursday June 21, 2007. 22:21 Down The Red Deer River - In A Hurry! |
|
So first off I'd like to thank Travis for having a birthday on Wednesday. 27 now eh? Good excuse to inflate our rafts and head to the river! So, even though we were heavily warned about the dangers of the high water (or maybe because we were warned), we headed down stream from Hwy 2 to Mackenzie Trails. In half the normal time. Very nice! And even better still, we were met up by Kelly (Travis's future wife), Mandi, and Travis's family and friends for a wiener roast and a fun night. My apologies to those wing-nighters who went out and wondered where I was, but hey, it was Travis's birthday. Well, as you can see I started typing this at, hmm, 22:21, and now it's 23:23 (I'm easily distracted, I guess), so I think I'll leave you here. Have a good night :)
Check out the all the rafting pics here. |

Sunday June 17, 2007. 11:41 Football & Green Grass |
|
It's funny that you'd think football & green grass go together. I guess they do. But not here.
Friday night Mandi & I watched the Calgary Stampeders stomp the Edmonton Eskimos in Calgary. First pre-season game this year.
Then, Saturday afternoon we layed sod in our front yard (and a bit in the back). So now our yard is green. Very nice.
Check out the rest of the sod photos (woohoo!) |

Monday June 11, 2007. 20:43 June 10th's Game Against The Master Batters |
|
Although the score didn't show it, this game was a technical victory. We had to lend a few of our players to Boston Pizza's team, and then got to watch them score against us and put us out. Owell. I did feel we played much better this game. Much fun, I truly enjoyed it.
After the game, we (Alfred, Crystal, Tara & Mandi) headed to Fort Normandeau and hit the river in our little rafts. I enjoyed my first trip aboard my new 3 person tube! Very nice. We paddled really hard and caught up to the others (Blake, Chelsey, Dustin & Stephanie). But, due to the rain, the less tough of the group decided to disembark near Blake's place (which is near Crystal's place) along the river. Owell. The rest of us only pouted about it for a few minutes. Chelsey's hot tub & BBQ cheered us right up. Kinda like the river, just hotter. It was a late night, and I'm looking forward to my bed tonight, but it was fun. Very much worth it. Tomorrow... I don't know. But it's the day before my birthday, and almost 29 years and 9 months after my conception, so it must be special for some reason. Well, That's it for now. Check out the photos (click below). I hope you have the time of your life. Okay, good night.
Check out the game Photos! |

Thursday June 7, 2007. 01:01 Mario Party 8, Then wing night! |
|
Tuesday I bought my first Nintendo Wii game, "Mario Party 8". And, after skating around the trails with Crystal & Mandi, we went back to my place (where Travis met up with us) and played a little of the Wii. Before last night, the 3 of them were "Wii Virgins". Not anymore :)
And, last night (technically) was Wing Wednesday, With Travis, Kelly, Meg, Tara & Chris. Great night. Travis, Kelly & I discussed some plans for Canada Day weekend in Kelowna. Looks like fun!
But now it's the wii hours of the morning, and I better climb into bed. As Kelly says to Travis, Time a go Nigh! |

Wednesday May 16, 2007. 00:33 Reign Over Me, And Mandi's 29th |
|
Tonight I went and saw "Reign Over Me". Because it was a late show, I knew that Mandi wouldn't be up for it, so I invited Blake. He couldn't make it though. Something about a waitress from OJ's? Huh, I dunno. Great movie, brought a tear to my eye. Not Mr. Sandler's normal comedy, but it was well done. I recommend it. Other news, Monday the 14th was Mandi's 29th, and we (Mandi & myself, joined by Travis, Tara, Heidi & Blake) had supper and ice cream cake at Houlihans, then hit the go-cart track at Northland Speedway. Great times. Now, as the computer tells me it's Wednesday (that means it's after midnight), I fear that my chariot has converted back to an onion, and my doorman and chariot team have probably ran to hide under the fridge, so it's a good thing I made it home! On that note, I better call it a night. I have an appointment to be prodded in the lab tomorrow morning. See what I'm allergic to, I hope. So, have a great night, see you on the other side! |

I just thought I'd drop a quick line to let everyone know that they no longer have to keep refreshing my insites to find the Show Desktop Shortcut file to download. I put it right there at the bottom of the insites page, down there with the link to download the MS Viewer file (both .exe's). See how easy I make life for you? Trick question, don't answer that! Anyway, hope they're useful for ya! Nighty night! |

Tuesday May 8, 2007. 22:54 Softball, 0 For 2 |

Well, Sunday was game 2, and it was a lot of fun. I think we (our team) learned a lot more do's and don'ts, and hopefully it'll help us grow as far as scoring goes, but regardless, it's always a great time. Only 3 more weeks until YC! Looking forward to volunteering this year, should be a lot of fun. Tonight, although I wasn't feeling too great, I decided to try a quick skate through the parks before meeting up with Blake (etc.) at OJ's for supper. And, it was nice to have a visit by Fred, Jassie and the kids, but now it's about that time to shut 'er down. So, sweet dreams! |

Friday May 4, 2007. 23:28 Sneak Preview: Spiderman 3 |
|
Thursday night, our store (Future Shop Red Deer) joined up with the staff at Park Plaza to enjoy the privilege of enjoying a midnight viewing of "Spiderman 3". Now, I'm assuming if you really wanted to see it, you'ld have seen it by the time you read this (ok, ok, maybe you just haven't had the chance yet - If you REALLY, REALLY wanted to see it) so it should be okay for me to tell you that Spider Man dies. Just kidding. But seriously. Ha, I guess you'll have to see it for yourself. Any way, it was really good, as expected, but it did have a couple of hot movies to show up (the first 2), so the awesomeness-to-hype ratio wasn't as high as the others. Fun night, very little sleep though. So, because my cousin is getting hitched tomorrow, and I've been running on extremely little sleep the last few nights, I think I'm about ready to retire. Hope you enjoyed my blog, have a great night! |

Thursday May 3, 2007. 00:41 2 Quick Weeks |
|
Wow, that was quick! Ok, this is me giving you a look through the last couple weeks of my life. Let's go back to April 16th, the day that Mandi, Tara and I drove to Edmonton to buy a DVD shelf from Ikea. Then we had supper at Joey's Tomatoes, then came home and I set up the bookshelf. Only to find out that it didn't fit the way I pictured it. So, I rearranged the whole living room, with Mandi sound asleep in the bedroom below. Even sliding furniture around doesn't wake her. Hmm.
Now let's jump ahead to the 20th. This particular Friday Mandi, Tara, Amy & I headed south to Calgary to meet up with Carmen & Heidi to watch the movie Hot Fuzz. But, because the 4 of us had a taste for Italian, we stopped for supper at Olive Garden, making us late for Hot Fuzz, and right on time for Fracture. (You thought I put the wrong picture there, didn't you!)
Now, seeing a late show an hour and a half away on a Friday night normally isn't a big deal, (getting home and to bed around 4ish) but when you have a staff meeting on Saturday, at 08:00, it can be a little tiring. Thanks to Natashia's son Kayden for keeping me awake during the 2 hour meeting. And even with an early staff meeting, you're probably saying to yourself (or your cat), "what's the big deal, you can go back to bed and sleep all weekend!" Well that normally would be the case, except if you read back an entry or 2 you'd remember that Sunday morning I'm on a plane to Montreal. So, after the staff meeting I spent the day packing and getting ready, and after a stupidly short sleep (again, gosh!), I'm at Dave's house (07:30 Sunday the 22nd) loading his gear and heading south to Calgary (again) to the airport this time. Once parked, we checked through and found our gate, and by 11:00 we were on our way to Montreal, Quebec (yes, that's still a province of Canada). We were greeted by the Future Shop crew, boarded a bus, and headed downtown to the Hyatt Regency Montreal. Talk about complicated. We didn't understand why we had to take one elevator up 6 flights to the lobby, and then another up 2 to our 2nd floor room, until we realised the bottom 5 belonged to a mall/office/convention complex. Getting around this place took a few days of learning. Nice place though, and a lot of fun! After getting our awesome goody bags, Dave & I headed out down Rue Sainte-Catherine Ouest for some fresh air and of course, photos. We stopped at Finnegan & Bacchus to watch part of this year's final Flames game before heading back to the hotel for a few hours of snoozing. That ended abruptly to my alarm and started our 3 days of sessions that Future Shop cleverly dubbed "Commo Royale", based after - you guessed it! 007 - Casino Royale. Really impressive how the whole vendor fair was theme based.
The days weren't worth saying too much about here, all early starts, long days of sessions with vendors telling us why their mobile phone service is better, or how OIS is better then digital (come to my work and ask me), but the nights were worth going on about. Monday night we had a hypnotist. Now, you think that expressing ones views on the disbelief of this type of hypnosis to ones table of co-workers whilst the hypnotist and his wife are enjoying supper at the table directly behind you would automatically disqualify you as a volunteer. Not so, my friends. Yes, I was chosen, and yes, I was able to relax completely to the words of the hypnotist, but unfortunately for everyone else, I wasn't able to be hypnotized. Owell, whadaya do. So, we watched the Canucks win their hockey game, and had another late night.
Then, on Tuesday night, it was Show Girls in feathers and Casino night (combined). They gave us fake money, and hired show girls and a mock casino crew and let us run wild! I had a fun night winning at the poker table, feeling secure about my decent winnings (there would be prize the next day) until I realized only the big winner would get a prize. And, being informed that I wasn't the top, I bet until the end, going all in on the last hand and losing it all. It was good fun. A bunch of us then went out dancing at Sir Winston Churchill's until early Wednesday morning, which leads us to our final day in the east. Oh, one thing I forgot to mention is that for the Mock up casino, they closed the main floor on the mall just for us! Wednesday this special area became our trade show floor, allowing us the freedom to gather any final info from the vendors before our sendoff. And oh, we all got Nintendo Wii's. (Giggity giggity!) While waiting for our bus to the airport, Dave & I again wandered around downtown, checking out Future Shop and other stores in the area, before heading to the airport (almost missing our flight while having supper) and arriving in YYC (Calgary), then driving home, to get in at about 02:00.
Once back home, I enjoyed a sleep in day, ending with the movie "In The Land Of Women" with Tara, Blake & Mandi. Um, it was interesting? Then, one day back at work, and Blake's Costume Party (Birthday Party). That was a blast! The police thought so, too. And, as my list goes on, Sunday the 29th was Future Shop Red Deer's first ever league Soft Ball game. (Check out the photos!) We had so much fun, I can't remember if we won or lost (ya, right!) And after the game, of course, we had to see a movie. So Mandi, Steph & Tara went with me to Calgary for supper (Applebees) and a movie ("Hot Fuzz", finally!).
Then, Monday the 30th I enjoyed my first inline skate of the season on my new blades (only used them once, and that was in LA) around Bower Ponds, and Tuesday May 1st I enjoyed the movie "Vacancy" (intense, but a lack of confrontation) with Dave and Kelly. Last night (Wednesday May 2nd) was wing night at Bo's, and tonight, our store gets to enjoy a midnight premiere viewing of "Spiderman 3". I'll tell you about that one later. Until then, sweet dreams!! |

Wednesday April 18, 2007. 23:51 2 Work Days & 1 Staff Meeting... |
|
Yeah, Ok, so I'm looking forward to my trip across the country to Montreal for the vendor fair. Heck, in some parts of the world, that would be traveling clear across the continent! Only 2 more work days (plus the Saturday morning staff meeting - Ughh, not looking forward to that!) until I have to be ready to go! Of course, I won't even start packing until Saturday evening, but it's all good. Tonight was a fun night at Bo's (wing night) but I think a few of us are a little disappointed in a certain someone (Blakobs!!) who hasn't been out in a few weeks. Hmmm. Anyway, I just felt like adding something here, so that's it! Nighty night. |

Tuesday April 10, 2007. 19:05 "Wild Hogs", Good. "Blades Of Glory", Not Too Sure |
|
How was your Easter weekend? Mine was pretty good, thanks. I spent Friday at work, Saturday afternoon at home chillaxin (and yes, still unpacking and organizing). Then, Saturday evening, a few of us (Me, Mitch & Tara) met a few of them (Andrew & Co.) at Lacombe's Reel To Reel Cinemas to enjoy? the movie Blades Of Glory. Ok, it was funny, I laughed. It met the standards that the trailers set in my mind. It maybe could have waited for cheap night though. After that we hung out at BP's to munch on some grindage. Sunday morning I took in a good service at CrossRoads before heading to the farm with Mandi for the family supper. It was really nice to spend the time with my family and have a chance to visit. Apparently we're playing paintball for Duane's Stag party. Lookin forward to that! After supper and chit-chat, I decided to take in a last minute late show at Park Plaza. I enjoyed (very much) "Wild Hogs", and I think I'll probably buy it. Really good laugh.
AND!!! (I'm looking forward to this...) only 11 days til Montreal! Ya. Anyway, tonight will be supper and "Charlotte's Web". Have a great evening! |

Monday March 26, 2007. 00:42 Number 23, & Premonition |
|
I was happy to spend a couple nights this weekend on the inside of movie theatres. Saturday night, after washing my car (so clean and silver), Mandi & I headed to Calgary for a nice meal at The Olive Garden (the waitress was so much fun, but Mandi's take-home meal not so much) and then a movie at Paramount Chinook. We decided to check out "Number 23", a movie I've been waiting to see. It was ok, good action and good humor thrown in. It seemed like they were really getting into how common this obsession is, But in the end, it didn't really show us much. Not sure what I think, but not a waste of time, at any rate. Plus I used free movie passes, courtesy of Bell Mobility.
Then, Last night (technically), Tara invited Mandi and me to "Premonition" at Red Deer's Park Plaza. Not my favorite place to watch a movie, but it turned out to be a pretty good flick. I'll try not to spoil it for ya, but I always get annoyed when producers forget about Time Travel Paradox (or the Butterfly Effect), and this time they didn't. I was entertained. The theatre, however, needs many more employees! Wow. Line up after line up. And all I wanted was my free popcorn and pop! Yes, I feel like this weekend had some well wasted time in front of the big screens. And yes, I did get quite a lot done around the house, as did Mandi (starting to look like someone actually lives here now!) looking pretty good, I think. But, although I get to sleep in a bit, I still have to take out the rubbish and get ready for bed, so I think I'm gunna sign off here. Oh, I almost forgot to tell you. In a few weeks, I get to head across the country to Montreal for an always fun Future Shop Vendor Fair! I do miss those. I guess I better touch up on my french! So, as they say in Quebec, Au Revoir! |

Thursday March 22, 2007. 22:32 Lake Louise, Then The Oilers |
|
Friday night (the 16th) Mandi & I Headed west to Lake Louise For some fun in the snow. We stayed Friday and Saturday nights at the Drake Inn in Canmore. We skied on Saturday, and took in Canmore on Sunday, then came home. Then, Monday evening we headed north to Edmonton and enjoyed watching the Oilers play the Canucks. Didn't enjoy the outcome, but the game was fun. Owell, it's all good. And, I finally got my new office desk (same as the old, just new!) and my new computer chair (not the same as the old) and got them both assembled. So assembled in fact, that I'm using them now! Things are coming along decently smooth. And then Tuesday, I was forced to make a tough decision. I had to decide between buying "Eragon" or "Blood Diamond". So I made the decision the best way I know how. I scanned them both into the computer, checked the prices, and then I paid for them. I'm a sucker for new releases. Haven't watched them yet, though. Just finished "James Bond : Casino Royale" tonight. I've been busy unpacking, skiing, watching hockey, working, and of course last night was wing night. Can't mix up my priorities. (Argghh! My new chair doesn't roll so smoothly on the carpet. I should've bought that plastic chair mat thingy when I picked up my chair. Tomorrow.) So, now I'm blogging for the first time in over a week on a computer that hasn't been used for over 6 months at my new desk in my new chair in my new house. Giggity, giggity, giggity! I'm out, have a great night!

Monday March 12, 2007. 23:11 A Weekend For The Rebels |
|
This weekend I enjoyed watching the Rebels win their 2 games, and clinch the final playoff spot of the division. Saturday night Mandi and I took in the game against Saskatoon at the Centrium, and Sunday (last night) I drove to Lethbridge to watch the Rebels conquer the Hurricanes for a guaranteed playoff spot. It's always exciting to see the Rebels play in someone else's home, especially when they win! It was a good road trip (4 hours each way!) Although I had a great weekend of hockey, I didn't give myself much time for unpacking. I am happy that we finally got all of the right appliances in and setup, and things are finally starting to look like they fit. And, the cats seem like they're as at home as if they've lived here all their lives. But of course they do, they're cats! I'm finally happily getting past my cold, and hopefully I'll be ready to hit the slopes this weekend out west. My ski's need to feel the snow, I think. And then Monday we'll head North to Edmonton to see if the Oilers can win one more before their season's over. We still have the Rebels, good thing! Well, that's the gist of it for tonight, have a great one! Keep your stick on the ice. Oh, and I bought "Peter Pan", and watched it this weekend. That Tinker Bell is somethin' else, ain't she? Woowee! ;D |

Tuesday March 6, 2007. 22:03 New Home, New Flu |
|
So we're all moved in (other than a car load or two) and now we live among boxes. It's really hard to make a dent in the unpacking project, especially when one is bedridden by a cold/flu. Sucky. So, among the days partially at work, partially in bed, the days totally in bed, and the couple of days thrown in where I partially helped Mandi and my Mom move Mandi's and my stuff into Mandi's & my house (on the weekend) it seems like a long process just to get the boxes here. If it wasn't for Travis' help Friday evening, and Heidi & Tara Sunday afternoon, I think things could've been ugly. Thanks for all your help, and thanks Mom and Mandi for doing most of the work while I worked on breathing. Now, we're in, and today we got Internet (woohoo!) and things are starting to get put where they need to be. And I'm still sick, but I think I've used up all my sick days. So, to work tomorrow!! Until next time, drink plenty of liquids and get plenty of rest. Peace, I'm out! |

So, on Tuesday night, the Rebels played the Hurricanes, and Mandi went with me to watch the game. In other news... (ya, you get it) no more soon-to-be new home!! As of today (later on, when normal people are awake) I will be given the keys to my new home. I officially own 6075 Orr Drive (co-own, with Mandi). Finally! Now, I love living at my Mom's house, but Trouble and Gizmo are ready to have a whole house again. This one room accommodation set up (cat litter and food at the foot of my bed!) will end with a sigh of comfort. On a note of truth, though, I really don't think the cats care one way or another. They're happy regardless. But I did spend the evening looking around my finished home, setting up appliances and trying to decided what goes where, AND trying to guess which nook or counter the cats will like the most. I'm curious to see Gizmo try to get onto the fridge! (*shudder!). So, seeing as I'll be moving tonight, and I work in 7 hours and 45 minutes (up in 6 and 45), I better sign off, change the litter, and get to bed. Have a great night, see you in my new home!! |

Sunday February 25, 2007. 22:10 Blood Diamond |
|
Last night, after briefly contemplating installing my Over The Range Microwave in my soon-to-be new home, Travis & I took in a movie at carnival. I wasn't sure what to expect, but wow. "Blood Diamond" was an amazing movie. I was very impressed. Add that to my list of movies to buy. After the movie, we ventured back to the kitchen of 6075 Orr Drive, and managed to successfully and (I hope) safely install my Panasonic microwave. It looks great. Can't wait to use it. It's looking pretty positive that I'll be in by the end of this week. WooHoo! Now, since I wore myself out playing hockey in West Park, I'm tired, and ready to call it a night. Very early for me, I know, but sometimes, it has to be done. Well, I'm off. Sweet dreams! |

Friday February 23, 2007. 00:26 C'mon, Move This! (Let Me Pour A Little On) |
|
I was on my way home from Wal-Mart when I decided to make a pit stop at Carnival - and I decided to stay for a movie. Normally if I go to a movie on my own, I'm not really on my own, there's other people in the theatre. This time, in theatre number 5, showing the new hit (hmmm) "Let's Go To Prison" starring... I forget :) I was really On My Own. I was the only person that decided to pay $4.00 to see this movie this night (technically last night, I suppose). And, ya know, although a lot of odd stuff went on in the movie, when it ended, I was in a good mood. It was oddly funny, sometimes painfully, often the typical prison humour that those of us who have never been joke about cause it's what we're told happens in prison (ya, I'm sure you understand). But altogether, a good laugh. And I know I already said it, but because recently I've seen so many movies end in a way that I wouldn't really call 'ending' by my fictional standards (did I word that properly?), I was very happy with the way this one tied up. I don't think I'll buy it, but it was worth my $4.00 and 85 minutes to see (other than the fact that I had to ask the staff a couple times to adjust the focus. Gosh!) Oh, and if you haven't tried it, the "Mr. Big Wall" at the Collicut Centre is a wee bit hard for a beginner. Tomorrow, it's back to the regular wall. That's all, I'm out. Good night! |

Monday February 19, 2007. 01:52 Wall Climbing, 2 For 1 Appetizers, & 'Eragon' |
|
Travis & I spent time on the climbing wall at Collicut yesterday, with Tara cheering us on. We then enjoyed Applebees Sunday evening special; 2 For 1 Appetizers. After filling up on mostly fried food, I decided to head over to Carnival for a cheap flick. This time, I saw the movie Eragon. I just realized typing that name, that it's only one letter away from being Dragon. Interesting lol. Finally a movie with a 'happily ever after' ending, although of course leaving room for a sequel. My kinda movie. All in all, it was a good full day. Back at the wall again later today! Aight, I'm hittin' the mattress. |

Sunday February 18, 2007. 02:05 Happy For The Home Team |
|
Even though I couldn't make it to the game tonight (last night? Saturday night.) on account of work, I was happy to hear that the Red Deer Rebels shut out Kamploops 2 zip. This makes it a winning streak of 3, and how great it is that all 3 victories were displayed in front of the home crowd. And, house news, my appliances made it home safely Friday afternoon. Now they're all snuggled safely in my new home, while I have to wait. Owell, not too much longer. That's all I really wanted to say before crawling into bed with Trouble & Gizmo (my cats, of course). So, depending on where in the world you are, good morning, good afternoon, good evening and good night! |

Wednesday February 14, 2007. 01:32 Children Of Men, And An Unfinished House |
|
Went and saw another movie... last night? Ya, last night. Checked out 'Children Of Men'. It was cheap night, and I really wanted to see it. It started off really good. Like, the theatre was so dead because of the weather that I got in free. That part was really good. The movie itself? I enjoyed it, I shed a tear. What did I think? I'm still waiting for my idea of a happy ending, I'll tell you that much. It was worth seeing though. Oh ya, it was free. Never mind. And I haven't updated you on my new house situation lately. You can probably tell by my enthusiasm that the builder has decided to give me a couple extra weeks to decide if I want to build with him again next time or not. How thoughtful. So, instead of the very lovely contract date of the 15th (this week), I get to enjoy moving on the lovely date (not very lovely, just lovely) of, maybe the 1st of March. We'll see. Ya, the enthusiasm. Anyway, have a good night (morning?)!!

So, the Rebels 1 game winning streak ended last night in a shoot out. Sucky. It was actually a really good game though, I thought. The other goaly was just too good. Owell. Also, I wanted to thank Hanna for her Fraser Island photos! Check them out!!

Friday February 9, 2007. 01:44 Smokin' Aces & The Red Deer Rebels |
|
Tonight I saw the movie "Smokin' Aces" with Kelsie and Jordan from work, courtesy of Bell Mobility. The free movie was the enticer to get us to Calgary for training on Wireless Number Portability. If you wanna know what it means, ask me. Anyway, the movie didn't lack the action and the blood, but I think someone was in a dark mood when they wrote it. I think a comedy is about due in the very near future. I won't be buying that one, I tell you that much. But, I did enjoy watching the Rebels win a game (in over time, but still a win!) on Tuesday. I was able to catch up with Blake at the game, and then again last night for wings at Bo's. I hope the Rebels can make it a winning streak tomorrow night. I'll find out when I'm there, I guess! Well, that's that for tonight, keep your stick on the ice! |

I was so happy yesterday evening to finally have bass in my trunk again! My six by nines were lonely back there. Not any more, though. Sounds great! In other news, I added some photos of my home-in-progress. More to come, I'll keep ya posted!

Thursday February 1, 2007. 23:44 Deja Vu |
|
Well, another trip to Carnival Cinemas, and of course, another movie. This time, I went with Mandi to see Deja Vu (Denzel Washington). It was really good. Very weird, but some nights, weird is where the entertainment's at. I can't even begin to explain it, so you'll have to see it yourself. Plus, I'm tired. On that note, have a good night!! |

Tuesday January 30, 2007. 22:29 Mel Gibson: King Of Gore |
|
The other night, Travis and I decided to check out a movie, and seeing as how we both wanted to see Mel Gibson's new one 'Apocalypto', we headed down to Carnival for a cheapy. Now, I really enjoyed the movie, I thought it was very well done, and I hardly noticed the subtitles, but I was a bit surprised by the gory effects that were added to the film. I mean, it did add to the realism, but I kinda wondered if maybe Mel has a bit of a fascination with the blood and guts (after "Passion Of The Christ"). Who knows. All in all, I liked it. I think I was a bit slow on the punch line though, it took me until now (we saw it Sunday night, the 28th) to figure out how the title matched the movie. But I get it! :) Good movie, I'm glad we went! |
